When should I take my childbirth classes?
For the best selection of class dates, please plan to register for classes early in your pregnancy. We recommend finishing your childbirth classes at approximately 36 weeks.

Can I take childbirth classes at a different hospital than I plan to deliver at?  Yes, you can. Be sure to call Labor and Delivery to schedule a tour at the hospital in which you plan to deliver at.

What should I bring with me to the childbirth classes?
Wear comfortable clothing, bring two bed pillows and a partner or support person (optional).

I am probably going to need a cesarean. Is there a class for me? Even when a cesarean section is needed, many participants find the Prepared Childbirth class helpful.

Should my husband/partner attend the Breastfeeding class with me? Partners are encouraged to attend the Breastfeeding class. However, if you need come without your partner you will likely not be the only one.

Does NW Childbirth have a specific philosophy?
We are dedicated to supporting new and expectant families. We will provide you with accurate information that will enable you to work with your medical provider to make informed choices for what is best for you and your family.

Are classes covered by insurance?
Insurance coverage for prenatal education classes varies widely depending on your health plan.  While many plans will provide partial reimbursement for some educational expenses, few plans cover the entire cost of a class. NW Childbirth will provide you the documentation needed (certificate of completion, receipt of payment) for you to submit a claim to your insurance company after your class is complete. Please remember to save your payment receipt that you receive when you register for classes.  We encourage you to contact your insurance company directly if you have any questions. NW childbirth cannot bill private insurance companies.
